DETECTIVES investigating the death of a 17-year-old boy in Leeds have officially released his name.

Trust Junior Jordan Gangata, known to his family and friends as TJ, was stabbed and fatally wounded in an incident at a house in Salisbury Grove, Armley, in the early hours of yesterday (Sunday, March 20).

Four men, including three from Bradford, have been arrested on suspicion of his murder, and detectives from West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are continuing to carry out extensive enquiries.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

The men - one aged 18 and two aged 19, all from Bradford, and an 18-year-old man, from Huddersfield – remain in custody.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Alan Weekes said: “Trust’s family are going through an incredibly difficult time, and we have specially trained family liaison officers supporting them.

“We are keeping them fully updated as we continue to progress the investigation into his murder, with the four men we have arrested remaining in custody.

“Trust’s family have asked that people respect their privacy as they try to come to terms with having him taken from them in such sudden and violent circumstances.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

“We continue to appeal for anyone who was at the party where Trust was attacked and who has any information that could assist the investigation to come forward and tell us what they know.”

At mid-afternoon on Monday, a scene remained in place around the address in Salisbury Grove to undergo forensic examination and specialist searches.

One onlooker said: "The police have carried out a fingertip search, with officers in black walking in a line along the street.

"They were looking underneath cars and over garden fences.

"Evidence markers could be seen on the ground and photographs were being taken of the scene.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"Scenes of crime officers were working in the garden of a house, then there was another scene round the corner and up the hill."

Another onlooker said police attention seemed to be focussing on the two scenes – one on Salisbury Grove and another around 75 metres away on Armley Lodge Road.

The two residential streets feature a mix of new-build houses and Victorian terraced properties.
