A BRADFORD tailoring firm has made a jacket fit for a King after a meeting with the monarch in the city.

Imran Khan, owner of IK Collections based on Westgate, met King Charles III during the latter’s visit to Bradford in November last year.

Mr Khan was wearing a handmade jacket at the event held in City Hall in Bradford and had a discussion with the King about his elaborate garment.

During their discussion, the King was struck by the jacket and Mr Khan promised he would make him a replica and already knew his size.

Mr Khan has been joined by eight others, spending 120 hours to make a matching jacket which is now set to be sent to the King.

A total of nine people, which included Mr Khan himself, senior and junior tailors and four apprentices at the firm from Qube Learning, have spent a total of 120 hours to make the jacket.

The soft velvet jacket is ‘rainforest green’ coloured with gold trimming throughout.

IK Collections unveiled the finished article in a video post on its Instagram.

Mr Khan said: “It was all made in Bradford. It took us 120 hours to make.

“I’m looking forward to it being sent to the King.

“It’s exactly the same as the one I wore when I met the King. He wanted it.

“When we met the King said to me ‘I really like your jacket’, I said thanks you and he said it was very nice and I said I would like to make him one.

“The apprentices have helped with it and they really liked making it. They were so excited.

“It’s just absolutely lovely. It just looks classy when you see it. It does look really, really nice. It’s something different.

“The King was really, really pleasant. He was a gentleman.”
