A BRADFORD woman has been banned from keeping animals for life after she admitted neglecting a pet dog and two cats.

Bernadette Gallivan, of Saxton Avenue, Buttershaw, pleaded guilty to three counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, during January 7 and January 21, 2022.

This related to a dog called Edie, and cats called Bentley and Mischief, where she failed to act over the cause of their weight loss.

She also admitted that she failed to provide a suitable environment that was hygienic and free from hazards, when it came to the three pets, between December 15, 2021 and January 21, 2022.

Gallivan, 47, was ordered to complete up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity requirement as part of a community order.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

She was also disqualified from owning or keeping animals for life, “due to concerns of neglect and harm”. Any application to terminate the order can be made within the next ten years.

Magistrates took Gallivan’s guilty plea, which was entered at an earlier hearing in December, into account when imposing the sentence.

Court documents, from the hearing at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on February 23, also show she was ordered to pay RSPCA costs of £100 and a victim surcharge of £95.
