A MAN who admitted making thousands of indecent images of children and possessing one extreme pornographic image involving an adult woman and a small dog has been sentenced.

Lloyd Burnett, 25, of Belle Vue Terrace, Skipton, appeared before His Honour Judge Colin Burn at Bradford Crown Court on February 20.

The charges related to indecent pictures of children included 2,372 of category A; 911 of category B and 1,806 images of category C. Images were both still and moving. The offences were committed on May 18, 2021.

Burnett was arrested at his home where an Apple iPhone was seized which was found to contain the images.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

The court was told Burnett had a similar previous conviction.

Judge Burn told Burnett that the maximum sentence he could expect for the category A pictures alone was one year in prison, but said he acknowledged prison was not appropriate for the support he needed to stop reoffending and also because of the difficulties he had with Asperger's Syndrome.

He said a suspended sentence would only give a maximum of two years suspension and a jail term would only give one year in prison which Judge Burn said would not be best for him. Judge Burns said he felt what would be best for Burnett was long-term, ongoing rehabilitation.

He, therefore, sentenced Burnett to a three-year community order for each offence to run concurrently.

Within that there would be 40 rehabilitation activity requirement days. He was also made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years and was to sign the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

Judge Burn indicated the rehabilitation requirement activities would take place in Leeds and Burnett had to attend all the appointments.

He must notify police if he intends to move from his Skipton address within the duration of his community order.

Burnett was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £95.

The iPhone was to be forfeited and destroyed.
