YOUNG people aged 11 to 16 are being encouraged to put their coding and computer skills to the test for a flagship cyber competition.

Aimed at pupils from across the Yorkshire and Humber region Cyber SwitchUp, organised by the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit, hopes to discover the top cyber talents of the future.

Schools will soon receive information about Cyber SwitchUp 2023, encouraging pupils to pit their skills against pupils from across the region.

This will be supported by a three-month programme of promotion and engagement events and campaigns across our region leading up to the opening of the online qualifier on April 24, 2023.

The top performing pupils in both Key Stages 3 and 4 competing in the online qualifier will then be invited to a live finals event at Pavilions of Harrogate.

It includes a series of hands-on fun and challenging exercises/puzzles in a ‘gaming arena’ format based on digital and cyber themes.

The event will also host speakers from digital and cyber industries as well as from higher education offering talks about opportunities in education and industry for young people pre and post 16.
