The national weather service has put in place a warning for Yorkshire and the Humber, north east and north West England and south west Scotland from 6am to 6pm on Friday, February 17.

Bradford’s wind gusts this Friday will peak at 52mph at noon, according to the Met Office forecast.

It has forecasted strong winds that could lead to some disruption to travel throughout the day.

The Met Office has forecasted for this Friday a period of very strong winds which may develop through Friday morning, before slowly easing into Friday evening.

Its warning added: “Winds will be strongest over, and immediately to the east of high ground, with gusts of 50-60 mph.

“Gusts as high as 70 mph are possible, particularly for some of the more exposed trans-Pennine routes. High-sided vehicles may be particularly impacted.”

Here's what the weather warning covers and what you should expect.

• There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris and of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs

• There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected. High-sided vehicles may be particularly prone in this set-up.
