A BRADFORD primary school, where leaders have a "strong commitment to pupils", is celebrating another 'good' Ofsted result.

Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust's Cullingworth Village Primary School, on New School Street, was inspected by the education watchdog in December 2022.

The report commended the hard work of leaders and teachers who have "high expectations of all pupils".

Pupils were described as "cheerful, curious and in lessons are engaged and attentive".

The report added: "Pupils are taught about important issues such as equality, tolerance and prejudice. They talk about these issues with maturity and understanding".

Cullingworth Village Primary, which serves 318 children, was praised for the vast range of experiences offered beyond the curriculum.

The report also highlighted the strong start pupils get in Reception where the "curriculum has been well planned with exciting and engaging activities that cover all areas of learning".

A particular strength was the school's strong safeguarding practices with the inspector commenting that "leaders know families well and are relentless in ensuring that pupils are kept safe".

The report said: "Pupils live and breathe the trust and school’s ‘ICARE’ values of inclusion, compassion, aspiration, resilience and excellence.

"They have a strong sense of pride in being a member of the school community.

"Adults and pupils are glad to be members of ‘Team Cullingworth."

Cathy Isaac, Head Teacher at Cullingworth Village Primary, said: “We are so proud that the excellent work of our pupils and our staff has been recognised by Ofsted.

"It is an absolute privilege to be part of Team Cullingworth and I am pleased every team member's hard work has been recognised.

"We are delighted the inspector could see our values of ICARE permeate through all the work we do.

"I am pleased that the inspectors recognised that both reading and maths are taught well but that the strong focus on children’s personal development through our carefully constructed curriculum and additional opportunities available to pupils is seen as equally important, something we are all incredibly passionate about.

"The balance between this and our excellent academic outcomes is something we are very proud of.”

Carol Dewhurst OBE, Chief Executive Officer at Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust, added: “A strong report for the staff and students at Cullingworth Village Primary School to be exceptionally proud of, packed full of evidence of high-quality learning being delivered in a caring yet ambitious environment.

"Well done to everyone involved.”
