Police have cordoned off large swathes of a residential street in Huddersfield following a serious incident.

West Yorkshire Police was called to Walpole Road following a concern for safety report from the ambulance service at 8.02am on Monday (February 6).

Four people were discovered with injuries at the property and taken to hospital to receive treatment.

Crime Scene Investigation officers are working at the scene while multiple police officers and cars can be seen.

In an earlier statement, a spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police received a report of concern for safety from the ambulance service at 08:02am this morning.

"Four people were found to have injuries at an address in Walpole Road, Huddersfield. They have all been taken to hospital to receive treatment.

"A scene remains in place at the address and initial enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances of what took place.”

The AA has reported that traffic is coping well whilst the road closure is in place.  

The latest traffic alert reads: "Road closed due to police incident on Walpole Road both ways from Moor End Road to Bronte Close. Traffic is coping well."
