TWO police departments have put out an urgent appeal to find a Yorkshire man.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: "We are very concerned for the welfare of Ernest Thorpe, 74, who is missing from his home in Fairburn, Selby District.

"Ernest was last seen leaving the house at 8am on Saturday.

If you see him, please call us immediately, quoting reference number 12230021810."

North Yorkshire Police provided the following update today, and a spokesperson said: "The search for missing Ernest Thorpe, 74, is continuing today. Please keep sharing our appeal to find him.

"We believe he may be in the Pontefract area, so we're particularly asking people to keep an eye out there."

West Yorkshire Police have also shared the appeal, and a spokesperson said: "Have you seen Ernest in the Pontefract area? Please contact North Yorkshire Police if you can help to locate him."
