A BRADFORD woman has avoided a prison sentence after she was caught with a kitchen knife in a public place.

Suzie-Leigh Gallagher, 37, of Millhaven Mews, Manningham, Bradford, was found to be carrying a knife on Braybrook Court in Bradford on November 18, 2022.

At Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on January 25, Gallagher was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, but it was suspended for 12 months.

A Collection Order was made, and she was asked to pay a surcharge of £154 to fund victim services and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

In total she must pay £239 before February 8, 2023 - an application has been made to deduct this amount from her benefits.

The defendant has been deprived of her rights to her kitchen knife under Section 143 of the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000.
