A GIRL who is a member of a Bradford dance company will perform alongside world-class Ukrainian opera stars in Madama Butterfly.

Molly Clara Stewart, seven, who has been a member of CC Dance Company in Saltaire since she was three years old, will be on stage alongside Ukrainian singers at Harrogate Theatre at 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 28.

Molly Clara, who loves singing and theatre, has been chosen to portray the son of Madama Butterfly, ‘Sorrow’.

Molly Clara, who has won many accolades both locally and nationally, has appeared in television and films for CBBC, BBC and ITV.

Set in Japan at the turn of the last century, the Puccini opera Madama Butterfly tells the story of the doomed love affair between an American naval officer and his young Japanese bride.

It will be performed by the Ukrainian National Opera from Dnipro.

Producer Alexej Ignatow of Amande Concerts Ltd said: “We are really excited to be presenting this opera company to UK audiences in these difficult times.

“The journey has been extremely challenging, but I am glad we have overcome the many extraordinary obstacles and have now received all the necessary visas and clearances for the Ukrainian artists.”
