A BRADFORD man has appeared in court for drug possession charges.

Mohammed Umar Rafiq, 40, of Little Lane, Bradford, faced two drug charges.

In the first, possession of a controlled drug of class A – heroin, Rafiq was caught with diamorphine in Hull on November 7, 2020.

He was fined £180 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge for this offence.

Rafiq was given no separate penalty for a second charge of possession of a controlled drug of class A – cocaine. This offence also took place in Hull on November 7, 2020.

He was fined £20 for a charge of failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time at Hull Magistrates’ Court on December 18, 2020.

An application was made by the court to make deductions from Rafiq’s benefits.

Rafiq pleaded guilty to all three charges and was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on January 19, 2023.
