A NUMBER of bikes and scooters have been given away to residents in an area of Bradford as part of a police project.

Police in the Bradford South area of the city organised a bike giveaway in Great Horton as part of the Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action.

The event proved popular with people queuing up yesterday to receive one of the bikes or scooters, provided by OnTrak.

West Yorkshire Police – Bradford South posted on its Facebook page: “A massive thank you to the community who attended the Bike Giveaway in Great Horton this morning.

“We were truly overwhelmed by the support for the event and clearly we need to do more events similar to this.

“Unfortunately, there were only a limited amount of bikes and scooters available but please appreciate the effort that went into making this event possible.

“Please keep your eyes peeled on our Facebook page for any future events.”
