A MAN whose body was found in water in West Yorkshire is being treated as a sudden death which is not suspicious, police have confirmed.

Liam Hinchcliffe, 30, was reported missing on December 30, 2022, and searches were ongoing since that time to find him. At around 12.40pm on Tuesday, January 24, police divers recovered a body, which has since been formally identified as Mr Hinchliffe.

Today, police said a file will be prepared for the coroner and officers continue to support Mr Hinchcliffe’s family.

A West Yorkshire Police statement today added: “We are aware of some unhelpful and inaccurate speculation regarding Liam’s death on social media and would advise this is causing distress to Liam’s relatives at what is clearly a dreadful time.

“Residents are kindly asked not to speculate particularly ahead of the coroner’s process to come.”

Mr Hinchcliffe’s family issued the following statement on Thursday, January 26: “We would like to thank the police and everyone involved in the search for Liam.

“We would like to ask everyone to respect our privacy at this sad and most difficult time.”
