A NURSERY where ‘children are at the heart of what they do’ has been rated Good by Ofsted in its first inspection since opening in 2020.

Our Little Angelz on New Line in the Greengates area of Bradford was visited by the education watchdog on December 14, 2022 where they were given a Good rating in each of the categories.

Inspectors found the nursery and its staff work closely with children and their families to ensure that all children including those with special educational needs and disabilities make good progress.

The report said: “Children arrive happy, and they confidently leave their parents and carers.

“They have formed positive relationships with staff and are eager to speak to them and tell them their news. Children feel safe and secure at the nursery.”

The nursery was rated Good for its safety and security as the staff are confident of their knowledge of how to keep children safe. Inspectors noted that training was robust, and all staff had the correct knowledge which was checked regularly.

Staff at the nursery have high expectations for children and accurately identify their strengths and areas of development, which they work on by introducing engaging activities to help them with varying needs.

The report said: “They introduce additional resources to effectively extend children's learning. For example, spices, glitter and tools are introduced to play dough activities.

“This encourages children to use their senses and fine motor skills to 'smell' and 'take a pinch' of cinnamon or ginger to add to their play dough.

“Children concentrate and are engaged in their learning. They are well prepared for the next stage in their learning.”

This setting offers children with ‘positive role models’ who encourage them to ‘use their manners, share and help each other.

“Children play and interact with each other positively. They listen to each other and take account of what they say, responding appropriately.

“Children say 'thank you' when a child gives them a resource. Children learn to be respectful of each other.”

Staff are attentive to children’s needs, but inspectors found there was room for improvement when children were put to sleep as more care could be given to their individual routines.

Inspectors found children at this nursery were confident speaking with visitors and guests.

The report said: “Children show confidence when communicating with visitors. They ask questions, such as 'what is your name?'. They are eager to share their achievements. For example, they say 'I did my coat myself, are you proud of me?' and 'look, my friend did their coat too'. Children are inquisitive learners and are proud of their achievements.”

Mehreen Khan and Barry Bahar, directors of the Nursery, said:“The management and Staff at Our Little Angelz Nursery in Greengates are delighted to have been awarded a Good rating by Ofsted for their first inspection since they opened in November 2020.

"The nursery was found to put the children at the heart of the ethos at the nursery and provide this in a warm and welcoming environment.”
