CHRIS Roberts, of Bradford & Bingley Weatherline, brings us the latest of his regular weekend weather forecasts.

General

High pressure is dominating our weather but its placement is bringing more cloud and weather fronts, often fairly weak, into the mix.

While most of any unsettled weather will be largely over Scotland, here will be predominantly dry and calm but with a few bouts of light rain or drizzle possible and more breeze expected later in the weekend too, as the 'high' repositions itself.

Saturday

A similar day to Friday can be expected; a lighter north west (NW) breeze will bring bright spells through the day with some sunshine potential, but a light shower of mainly drizzle can’t be ruled out where cloud is thickest and mist is likely to affect the hills at times.

Temperatures are a little below average from 3C to 6C in a light NW breeze Overnight Misty and mainly cloudy and dry.

The chance of a frost developing is around 20 per cent due to the cloud cover. So, it can’t be ruled out. Lows of 2C in a light NW to Westerly breeze.

Sunday

Generally a cloudier and breezier day, although it will be milder as we begin to draw air from the South West.

There is a chance of a shower from a weakening weather front, but most of us should stay dry.

It will be very hit and miss in nature and it will become a little cooler later in the day as the wind veers back to the NW. Temperatures from 4C to 7C or 8C in a moderate to fresh mainly West/SW veering to NW breeze in the evening.

Overnight

Another mainly cloudy night with potential for some light drizzle early, but drying up by dawn.

No frost is expected but it will feel cold in the wind. Lows of 3C to 5C in a fresh West to WNW breeze.

Further Outlook

Becoming a little more unsettled at times with, initially, average temperatures and quite breezy too.

Hints of milder air later in the week are appearing. More detail can be found in the daily forecasts. There will be no snow or any Easterly beasts.

Just average mid-winter weather. The longer term trend is similar but perhaps milder.
