JANUARY is not the most uplifting month, with many people feeling deflated after the high spirits of Christmas. But one sight brings us a glimmer of joy - snowdrops. Already breaking through the soil, snowdrops herald the start of better things to come - days getting longer and sunshine gaining warmth.
There are few more lovely sights than carpets of snowdrops, coating woodland or bank sides, as this wonderful picture of sheep, camouflaged against the flowers in Rylstone, Craven, shows.
