A Bradford secondary school has made "the difficult decision" to issue an emergency closure.

Beckfoot Thornton said the school had been facing issues with the school roof and high winds.

The Met Office has predicted wind speeds up to 20mph throughout Bradford district today.

The school apologised for the late notice in an announcement about the site's closure.

Students will be working on Microsoft Teams at home, the notice from Beckfoot Thornton said.

In the latest update on Bradford Council's school closures list, a spokesperson said: "Due to an issue with the school roof, high winds and the forecast for the rest of the day we have taken the difficult decision to close the school site today.

"All work for students to complete today will be on microsoft teams, apologies for the late notice."
