A ROAD was closed and a pedestrian rushed to hospital after a crash with a motorbike.

West Yorkshire Police was called to Bingley Road (A650), in Saltaire, Bradford at 5.47pm today to reports of a road traffic collision.

It involved a motorbike and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital.

Police put a road closure in place on Bingley Road between its junction with Victoria Road and Moorhead Lane and Saltaire Road (A657).

The route is used by commuters who travel between Bradford, Saltaire, Bingley and beyond.

The crash caused huge amounts of traffic to build in the area, with congestion also on Saltaire Road.

First West Yorkshire also announced that its 622 bus service was diverting via Saltaire Road, as a result of the collision.

The road later reopened, with traffic passing through without issue at 8.15pm when the Telegraph & Argus visited the scene.

There was a single police car on the road still at that time.
