A BRADFORD family was left without hot water and heating over the Christmas period and spent the best part of two weeks waiting for an engineer they were told would be coming out.

Andrew Harrison and his family, who live in the Greengates area of Bradford, have been without hot water and heating since December 22, 2022 and quickly put in a complaint with Incommunities.

The family said it was told by Incommunities that someone would be coming out to fix the problem but says the problem remains unresolved.

Mr Harrison said: “It’s been horrible.

“When I raised the issue with Incommunities, they told me I was a high priority because my daughter is disabled, and still now we haven’t got our hot water back.

“We’ve had no hot water or heating, we’ve been boiling kettles for everything and in the cost-of-living crisis we’re in, it really doesn’t help.

“We didn’t go out to see our family and friends over Christmas because we were told somebody was going to come fix our heating.

“When I called the company myself, they told me they don’t offer call-out services and the company is closed for two weeks over the Christmas period.

“Apparently Incommunities were aware of this.”

Mr Harrison, whose eldest daughter has severe disabilities and is non-verbal, has been struggling immensely with the current situation.

Mr Harrison added: “It’s been really difficult.

“We don’t want this to happen to anyone else, people who could be worse off than us.

“We did get given temporary heating, but it’s been expensive to run, you’d think if we weren’t using hot water or heating it would help with the bills.

“We feel let down.”

Mr Harrison has now been told that this heating and hot water will be fixed by Monday, January 9, 2023 - by then the family will have gone 18 days without these essentials.

A spokesperson for Incommunities said: “We would like to apologise to Mr Harrison for the inconvenience caused to him and his family.

“Unfortunately, an internal error led to delays in attending to the property to fix the problems with the air source heat pumps.

“We can confirm that we provided temporary heating before Christmas whilst awaiting the contractor's visit.

“We are currently reviewing our processes regarding out-of-hours emergency cover to ensure that we are providing the best possible service to all of our customers.”
