A BRADFORD man has been locked up over Christmas for repeated offences of driving whilst disqualified.

Hayden Kee, 29, of Queen Street, Bradford, appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, December 21, after being caught driving while disqualified - while on his way to court for the same offence.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "At 9am on Tuesday, December 20, Roads Policing Officers stopped Kee for driving 60mph in a 30mph zone on Huddersfield Road in Bradford.

"Further enquiries revealed he had already been banned from driving twice earlier in the year.

"Kee was sentenced to four months imprisonment and his driving disqualification has been extended for a further two-and-a-half years."

Sergeant Steven Suggitt, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “Driving disqualifications are put in place for good reason, to keep the roads of West Yorkshire safe.

“Ignorance of these court orders puts members of the public at risk and the consequences of these actions can be much worse than in this case.

“Let this sentence and driving disqualification extension serve as a warning to others who think they can ignore court orders and continue to use West Yorkshire’s roads, that they will be prosecuted, and this can result in a prison sentence.”
