A BRADFORD restaurant is offering a traditional Sunday roast each week but with a twist.

Jinnah has built up a strong reputation for its Kashmiri food but is now offering a more traditional British alternative on its menu every Sunday.

It will have roast chicken, lamb, beef or pan-fried vegetables options available for diners at its Leeds Road restaurant between noon and 3pm on Sundays.

It will also be available for diners on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The dishes have been billed as a Sunday roast with an Asian twist and are 100 per cent Halal.

The beer roast is priced £10.95, chicken is £9.95 and the lamb roast is £12.95. The pan-fried vegetables alternative dish is £8.95. Diners can also have a choice between a number of traditional British starters - including a prawn cocktail.

Saleem Akhtar, Jinnah chief executive, says his restaurant has been developing the Sunday roast dishes over recent months and they have already proved popular with diners after its first session.

He says Jinnah has offered a world foods section to its menu already including burgers, steaks and pizzas and has now offered the traditional weekly staple dish.

A specialist chef has been drafted in to oversee each week’s roasts, which are only available at the chain’s Bradford restaurant.

Mr Akhtar said: “It’s going to be a permanent thing.

“I thought Sunday roast is very popular with the English community. It’s a tradition for the English community, why not try it for the Asian market? We have tried it as a taster for the last few months.

“It was very positive feedback from people at our first day. The responses has been really, really good. Some have said keep it traditional, while some said they liked it with a little bit of spice.

“Normally on a Sunday between noon and 3pm we serve 25 to 30 people, usually people come out for food at 4pm on a Sunday. Just for the roast on Sunday, we sold 58.”

Mr Akhtar added diners will be given the choice between traditional British gravy or gravy with an Asian spice twist for their meal. He also plans to give diners the option of adding rice to their roasts too.
