A neglected cat was discovered moments away from freezing to death by a Bradford cat rescue.

Bradford Cat Watch Rescue and Sanctuary was told about a poorly cat living in a street near Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Her finders brought the cat, now named Clarice, to the rescue to receive emergency care overnight.

She was found in a terrible condition, severely dehydrated and hypothermic.

Rescue founder Katie Lloyd said: “Many of you will have seen our new arrival Clarice who arrived dreadfully ill, moments from death.

“Well almost 24 hours later, 24 hours of intensive care on our critical care ward and at the vets Clarice is feeling a little brighter.

“Last night her temperature was 34c, barely readable, and today it’s normal.

“She has had various blood tests which shows nothing terrible - just so severely dehydrated and cold.

“In addition to this we also believe her to be blind too.

“Clarice is not a young cat, possibly 12 to 15 years old, I’m sure once she had family who loved her.

“Clarice remains critically ill and her recovery will be slow.”

Katie added: “She is definitely brighter this morning though we do know that her prognosis is very much guarded.”

The rescue is now appealing for donations towards Clarice’s care.
