BRADFORD City have been praised for hosting part of a rugby league legend’s epic charity ultra-marathon challenge.

Former Leeds Rhinos star Kevin Sinfield’s week-long Ultra 7 in 7 challenge reached the home of Bradford City, Valley Parade, to end the sixth day of his charity feat last month.

Sinfield, 42, ran around 40 miles for seven consecutive days en route to Old Trafford in Manchester in a bid to raise £777,777 for five motor neurone disease charities (MND) charities.

At his arrival at Valley Parade, Sinfield met and hugged former City captain Stephen Darby who has MND.

This target was quickly smashed and he has raised an amazing £2.26 million to date.

In a question set to be discussed at Bradford Council’s meeting on December 13, Councillor Sabiya Khan (Lab, Wibsey) praised the Bantams’ part in being the final stop on Sinfield’s penultimate day of his challenge on November 18 and his set-off location the following day.

Cllr Khan said: “I was very moved to witness Kevin Sinfield’s heroic MND charity fundraising efforts as he passed through Bradford City’s ground last month, it was a really poignant occasion.

“Will the Leader join me in thanking Bradford City for supporting this important cause?”
