PLANS for a new multi-million-pound Lidl store and Costa Coffee drive-through in Bradford have officially been submitted.

The retail development is set to replace the JCT600 Accident Repair Centre at 320 Sticker Lane in Laisterdyke.

An application has been lodged with Bradford Council seeking permission to demolish the existing building to make way for the new businesses.

It says: "The application seeks planning permission for the demolition of the existing building, and erection of a new Lidl food store and a coffee drive-through unit with associated car parking and landscaping at the site."

It would increase the number of Lidl stores in the Bradford district to eight.

A spokesperson from the discount retailer says the opening would create lots more jobs in the community.

They said: "We are delighted to confirm plans to bring a new Lidl supermarket to Sticker Lane, Bradford.

"If approved, the new supermarket would provide the local community with convenient access to Lidl’s high-quality and affordable produce.

"The plans would also deliver a multi-million-pound investment and new jobs for the community which, following our second increase in hourly pay rates this year, will benefit from one of the highest pay rates in the industry.

"We would like to thank all those who have taken the opportunity to show their support so far, and we look forward to receiving a decision from Bradford Council in due course."

The new Lidl food store will be a 1,907 sq.m gross internal area with a net sales area of 1,249 sq.m.

It will be accompanied by a total of 128 car parking spaces - including six disabled spaces, nine parent and child spaces, and two electric vehicle charging (EVC) spaces.

The development will include adequate cycle parking and a trolley bay located adjacent to the entrance of the food store.

The scheme, led by developer JCT600, also includes a new coffee drive-through unit measuring 179 sq.m (GIA).

The Costa Coffee unit (179 sq.m) will be accompanied by 29 car parking spaces, two of which will be built to a disabled standard.

The proposal will provide improved retail provision and consumer choice in this area of Bradford and will create additional local jobs.

During the community consultation, 5,775 leaflets were delivered to surrounding addresses inviting people to register their comments and thoughts online.

The Telegraph & Argus approached JCT600 but it did not wish to comment.
