NINE people have now been arrested and a series of search warrants executed, as police continue to investigate a shooting in Cleckheaton.

The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team is continuing a number of active investigations today after executing warrants in Liversedge overnight following a firearms discharge at a house on Pyenot Hall Lane in Cleckheaton on Sunday, December 4.

A number of police scenes remain in place today in Liversedge and Bradford for further investigation work to be carried out.

Seven men and one woman, aged between 19 and 42 and from the Kirklees and Bradford areas, were all arrested on suspicion of firearms offences in connection with the discharge and remain in custody.

A 19-year-old man arrested on Monday on suspicion of firearms offences also remains in custody.

The Homicide and Major Enquiry Team (HMET) is continuing to appeal for information in relation to the incident, which happened at around 3.30pm.

It occurred after a group of males in dark clothing and balaclavas approached the property and made threats.

Occupants then heard a loud bang before the group dispersed.

Police attended and found damage to the front door consistent with the discharge of a firearm.

No-one was hurt and extensive enquires have been ongoing at the scene.

DCI Damian Roebuck of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “Our enquires remain ongoing into this serious incident with nine people in custody today on suspicion of firearms offences.
