A MAN has been jailed for two and a half years after kidnapping his former partner from the street and then hitting her in the face in front of attending police officers.

Adrian Nedelcu frogmarched the terrified woman across the road before assaulting her and threatening to kill her, Bradford Crown Court heard today.

Nedelcu, 26, of Merton Road, Shearbridge, Bradford, also harassed her with fear of violence, between February and July.

The court heard that he was on bail following earlier arrests when he committed the offences.

The couple split up in 2021 and Nedelcu was ordered not to contact his victim.

But on February 28 this year, he went to her home in Bradford, jammed his foot in the door and threatened her. He then injured himself by punching the door.

Nedelcu, who was assisted by a Romanian interpreter during the court proceedings, chased his victim on to a shop car park on March 1 but made off when a security guard said he was contacting the police.

The following month he took her phone but it was retrieved by a neighbour.

When his victim moved to a new address in Halifax, Nedelcu turned up on July 5, banged on the door and shouted threats.

He came in uninvited through the rear door and she locked herself in the bathroom on the advice of the police before making a run for it.

He pursued her into the street and frogmarched her back to her home before slapping her across the face.

He continued the violence in the presence of the police and even tried to ring her from the police van after he was arrested.

Many of his actions were caught on CCTV and the officer’s bodyworn camera.

Nedelcu pleaded guilty to kidnap, making a threat to kill, two offences of assault by beating and harassment with fear of violence.

He was jailed by Judge Jonathan Gibson who made a five-year restraining order banning him from having any contact with the woman.
