BRITAIN's second oldest person is celebrating her 112th birthday.

Ada Thompson marked the milestone on Monday at the care home where she lives in Keighley, celebrated with all her family and friends on Sunday.

Care home manager Emma Jarvis said Mrs Thompson loved the card she got from the King and Queen Consort.

Ms Jarvis said she has added it to her collection from late Queen.

“She got a card from the King and Camilla,” she said.

“She loved it because she’s collected every one since turning 100.”

“They were all on show yesterday.”

Ms Jarvis said Mrs Thompson only moved to the home in 2016, living relatively independently until then.

“She’s lovely,” she said.

“She prefers to stay in her bedroom but, if there’s entertainment on, she’ll come down and sit in the lounge.”

Ms Jarvis said Mrs Thompson enjoyed having all her family around for the celebrations on Sunday.

“They had a lovely day,” Mrs Jarvis said.

“She does like a bit of a fuss does Ada.”

The great-grandmother, who has lived in the Keighley area all her life, was born on November 28, 1910 – when George V had just become king and the Prime Minister was Herbert Asquith.

Ms Jarvis said Mrs Thompson is Britain’s second oldest person.

She is a year younger than Ethel Caterham, from Surrey, who is understood to be Britain’s oldest person.
