BRADFORD Hindu Council (BHC) celebrated its official launch with an event at City Hall.
BHC sees three temples and more than 20 other Hindu organisations working as one united group.
The launch was attended by more than 100 people, which included Councillor Martin Love, the Lord Mayor of Bradford; Bradford Council leader Susan Hinchcliffe; Bishop of Bradford, Dr Toby Howard as well as various dignitaries and representatives from the emergency services.

Prayers were performed, while an introduction to the basic tenets of Hinduism was given.
General secretary Harkishan Mistry gave a presentation of BHC’s work and keynote speeches were given by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Hinchcliffe, Professor Geetha Upadhyaya OBE and Professor Mahendra Patel OBE.
A BHC spokesperson said of the launch: “It was heartening to see representatives from each of the member groups of BHC, plus faith groups in Bradford, and community organisations, attending to support the event.”
