THE owner of a Bradford salon was overjoyed to win a regional award at a national ceremony.

Elise Luxury Hair Boutique, based on Fair Road in Wibsey, won the Best Customer Experience gong at the Hair Salon Awards 2022.

Owner Elise Mongan, who has been a hairdresser for more than 15 years, working at some of Bradford’s biggest salons, was shocked to see she had come out on top in such a competitive field.

"It is absolutely phenomenal," Elise said.

"I was blown away when I heard we won. We have worked so hard to provide customers with a good experience.

"We really pride ourselves in this sector."

Hosted by renowned hair stylist Errol Douglas MBE, the London ceremony was attended by thousands of salons across the country.

Elise went with fiancée and salon manager Stacey Greenwood and stylist Ella Dutton.

Her business, which opened in 2020, was also shortlisted in the Best Colour Salon and Stylist of the Year categories.

Elise added: "The event was massive. Each region was split and there were a couple of hundred going for the award.

"It was really nice to meet Errol Douglas. He was really interested in our salon.

"It was nice to network at the event, meeting all the different hairdressers. You just want everyone to succeed and then inspire others."

It is not the first time Elise Luxury Hair Boutique has been around the awards circuit.

The shop was nominated for Best Salon of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year at The UK Hair and Beauty Awards earlier this year.

Asked what the secret behind her success, Elise said: "I enjoy looking after my customers.

"One customer, I have been doing her hair since the age of 19, I am now 34.

"I asked her why she still comes to me and she said it is because I have always gone above and beyond for her.

"I just care how the customer feels when we are doing their hair."

A spokesperson from the awards said: "We are delighted so many came to support this year, without this we could not continue to recognise the talent of individuals and salons as we do, and continue our mission to give as many hair professionals across the UK the opportunities that taking part creates.

"Motivate, inspire and grow - we can't wait to see how our winners carry on the celebrations and share the news with clients and peer networks."
