WITH a terrace overlooking the canal, Alexander’s in Skipton is a stylish concept restaurant.

Susannah Daley, owner of Alexander's - the T&A Restaurant of the Week - tells us more:

* How long has Alexander’s been in Skipton?

Five years. We opened in July 2017. It belongs to the Peel Entertainment Group a Yorkshire-based group of companies specialising in entertainment, digital storytelling, and hospitality.

* What can you tell us about the location of the restaurant?

It has a perfect setting at the top of Skipton High Street next to the castle and parish church green. At the back, the modern terrace overlooks the Leeds-Liverpool canal.

*What kind of food do you serve?

The food is based on the concept of the Grand Tour - a selection of dishes from around the globe that have been brought back and adopted and anglicized over time. We also look for local dishes’ specialties too. The brief is to have gorgeous, freshly made, yummy food that makes people smile.

* Can you tell us about the property, and the look of the restaurant?

The property is a traditional Georgian building at the front, which we newly restored before we opened,. This is where our parlour, bar and private dining room sit.

At the back we made a contemporary extension, terrace, and garden for inside and outside dining options. The decor is a mix of Edwardian arts and crafts and Art Deco glamour; lots of American walnut, brass, and a palm court vibe.

Alexander’s is a concept restaurant, designed to be a place to experience laid back elegance, incorporating the charm and sophistication of the Edwardian and jazz ages but with a contemporary casual twist.

We have a fabulous decor and wonderful friendly staff ready to welcome all guests no matter whether a quick stop off while shopping or a full-blown celebration party. We have won awards for our brunches and many accolades for the quality of food and amazing top notch cocktails.

Our beers have been chosen because they are quality craft beers and ales. We have a vast range of gins, over 40 and counting, and high quality. And with fine wines, there really is something for everyone.

We offer a Little Explorers children’s menu and a one of kind (the only one in the UK) colouring-in app and games designed by our award-winning digital team for young diners. This week sees us reintroduce Sunday roasts, with the top-quality sirloin beef, free-range corn-fed chicken, and local Yorkshire lamb, of course with an Alexander’s twist!

* Do you have any themed events?

We are hosting 'Off Piste' at the moment - an alpine/Nordic themed winter experience. We are also having an 'Off Piste' party for New Year’s Eve. We're hosting a Parisian themed Valentine’s Day in February, with live Can Can dancers (we have a mini stage) and a curated French themed menu.

* Do you see Alexanders as part of the community in Skipton?

Very much so. We sit opposite Skipton Town Hall and at the top of the high street. We welcome everyone, whether it is for a cup of tea after a dog walk or a feast for an anniversary or birthday. We like to sponsor local groups and charities and keep up with and take part in many of the town’s events.
