PLANS to build a new bakery in the car park of a Bradford retail park have been withdrawn.
This Summer, a planning application to build a new bakery at the Weaverthorpe Retail Park, on Tong Street, was submitted to Bradford Council by Metropolitan and City Properties Ltd.
The proposals would have seen a 112 square metre unit built on the Tong Street side of the retail park’s car park.
The identity of the bakery chain that would take on unit had not been announced, but the application claimed the unit would create 12 jobs.

This week, the plan was withdrawn by the applicants.
No detail has been given for the withdrawal, but The Coal Authority had raised concerns about the new building.
The authority said there were likely to be entrances to historic mines near the site, adding: “The applicant has not demonstrated that the site can be developed safely. Consequently, the Coal Authority does not consider that the application has fully appreciated the risks associated with mining legacy.”
