A new Remembrance Trail is marking the lives of brave servicemen and women from Wrose who served in the world wars.

The stories pay tribute to 11 local residents on signs throughout Wrose in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday on November 13.

The boards are displayed on the exact streets in Wrose where the servicemen and women lived during the wars.

Shipley historian Richard Coomber has researched the lives of soldiers from The Shipley Times archives.

Wrose Road is the focus of the area's Remembrance Day activity this year.

Yarn poppies can be seen draped across bollards and planters by the Wrose Knitter Knatter group.

Meanwhile Wrose Parish Council have displayed ‘Remembrance Tommy’ signs on lamp posts.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, chair of Wrose Parish Council, said: “Our Remembrance Trail is something we hope people will invest some time in to find out about the lives of local heroes who in some cases gave their lives for our country.”

Councillor Liz Rowe, who organises the Knitter Knatter group, said: “It was a huge amount of work so a big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who gave up their time to create such a fantastic tribute.”
