A MAN has avoided jail for a number of thefts at Bradford city centre shops.

Kane Battye, 24, of Sunbridge Road, Bradford, was handed suspended jail terms for a number of theft from a shop charges.

He was committed to prison for three weeks, suspended for 12 months, for stealing items of clothing, worth £50, from Primark, Kirkgate, Bradford, on October 5, 2022.

Battye was committed to prison for three weeks, suspended for 12 months, for stealing products worth a total of £48.98 from Boots, The Broadway, Bradford, on October 2, 2022.

He was committed to prison for two weeks, suspended for 12 months, for a charge of failing to surrender to police/court bail at the appointed time.

He was re-sentenced for previous offences including committed to prison for three weeks, suspended for 12 months, for stealing a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey from Morrisons, Bradford, on July 11, 2022.

He was re-sentenced for stealing a James Bond DVD box set, worth £49.99, from HMV, The Broadway, Bradford, on May 26, 2022. He was committed to prison for three weeks, suspended for three months, for this offence.

Battye pleaded guilty to all charges and was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on November 9, 2022.
