POLICE have released images of two of the six men sentenced for their part in a street attack which led to the death of a teenager in Bradford.

Images of Umar Shehzad and Mujahid Shah have been released after they were sentenced for their part in a violent disorder between two groups on Duckworth Lane, Bradford, on April 22, 2021.

Shehzad, 25, of Nurser Lane, Bradford, was jailed for 21 months, while Mujahid Shah, 20, of Sunrise Close, Little Horton, Bradford, was sentenced to 18 months in a young offenders institution for their part in the violence.

Meanwhile, four other men who were part of the group were also sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on November 10. They were: Saif Shah, 18, of West Park Road, Girlington, Bradford, was sentenced to 13 months at a young offender institution.

Zain Mahmood, 21, of Airedale College Terrace, Undercliffe, Bradford, was jailed for 15 months, suspended for two years.

Javeed Khan, 21, of St Pauls Avenue, Bradford, was jailed for three months which he has already served on electronic curfew.

Danyal Majid, 19, of Hinchcliffe Street, Undercliffe, Bradford, was sentenced to eight months in a young offenders institution.

Five of the six men were sentenced for a charge of violent disorder, while Khan was sentenced for affray.

Another of the men in one of the two cars, Muhammed Mujahid Hussain, 19, a friend of theirs, suffered a single stab wound to his right, lower chest, where his heart was partly punctured, during the disorder in Duckworth Lane.

He was driven in a white Volkswagen Golf by Mahmood to Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) and was trying to make respiratory effort, but was pronounced dead at 12.50am on April 23, 2021.

CCTV footage of some of the violence from the six men from that evening on Duckworth Lane was shown to the court during the sentencing hearing.

Senior Investigating officer Detective Superintendent Vanessa Rolfe, said: “The death of Muhammed is another tragic reminder to us all of what can happen when knives are used in violent confrontations. His death was senseless and could so easily have been avoided.

“Knife crime can have terrible consequences and in this case has caused a young man to lose his life and left a family with a lifetime of grief.

“I hope this sends a strong message that we will not tolerate violent disorder on our streets, and there are serious consequences for being part in these incidents.

“Our sympathies remain with Muhammed’s family for their tragic and needless loss.”
