AN AIRLINE has confirmed a service it has dropped from Leeds-Bradford Airport (LBA) for the winter will not return.

Flybe, a British commercial airline which runs flights across the UK and Europe, had already announced the route between LBA, in Yeadon and London Heathrow Airport had come to an end, with the release of its winter schedule.

The company explained, in line with all airlines, that it reviews its schedules for each IATA season and a decision was made not to continue the three daily flights between LBA and the capital.

Flybe's Summer 2023 schedule on its website has a "coming soon" label underneath it but the firm has now confirmed the route has been dropped indefinitely.

A spokesperson for the airline said: "There are no plans at present for Flybe to reinstate services between Leeds Bradford and London Heathrow in the future."

The UK-based business said yesterday it remains committed to LBA with its Belfast City Airport service still in place for the winter.

It only reintroduced its LBA to Heathrow route, as well as the service to Belfast, back in March.

It was hailed as "an important moment" by officials at LBA.

Flybe was pushed into administration in March 2020 with the loss of 2,400 jobs as the Covid-19 pandemic destroyed large parts of the travel market.

It once provided more than half of UK domestic flights outside London.
