A BROKEN-DOWN vehicle has wreaked havoc on a motorway, with five miles of traffic.

The vehicle came to a halt on the eastbound carriageway of the M62, between junction 26 (M606, Bradford) and junction 27 (Tingley).

National Highways: Yorkshire posted on Twitter about the situation at 3.03pm.

The highways agency said lane one (of three) was closed while recovery was on route to the scene.

At that time there was approximately four-and-half miles of congestion, which was adding 25 minutes onto normal travel time.

All lanes were reopened at 3.13pm when the vehicle was removed but there was still five miles of congestion.
