A DRIVER on cloned plates "did not believe in insurance, driving licences and tax".

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Halifax Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) were out on patrol last night.

They spotted a blue Range Rover on cloned plates in the Lee Mount area and pulled it over.

Police spoke to the driver and he told them he "did not believe in insurance, driving licences and tax".

A spokesperson for Halifax NPT said: "Unfortunately for him, we do, leading to his vehicle being seized."

The team then spotted a Volkswagen Polo later in the evening, "who didn't want to stick around upon sighting police".

The VW made off from officers after asking to be stopped and police chased the vehicle.

They managed to catch the suspects shortly later.

Three men, aged between 16 and 19 years old, were arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and going equipped for theft.

Checks showed the VW was on cloned plates and contained balaclavas and bolt cutters.

All three men remain in custody at this time.
