Police have released seven people on bail after a series of drugs raids on Bradford’s Holme Wood estate.

West Yorkshire Police carried out drug warrants at Wentworth Crescent, Heysham Drive, Landscove Avenue, Lansdale Court, Greenholme Court and Dorchester Crescent.

A large amount of cannabis was found at five of the six properties.

Three men and four women were arrested on suspicion of Production of Class B Drug Cannabis, Possession of Cannabis and Abstract Electricity.

Another woman was given a conditional caution in relation to possession of a Class B drug.

In the latest update from police, a spokesperson said all seven people have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Speaking yesterday, Inspector Andy Thornton Head of Bradford South’s Neighbourhood Policing team said: “We have taken this action today as part of the Holme Wood Community Partnership and highlights our continued commitment to making Holme Wood a safer and better place to live.

“I hope these warrants send a clear message that we are tackling organised crime and people who chose to deal with drugs will be dealt with.

“Today we have dismantled five cannabis farms and seized numerous plants.

“Crime in the area is a big concern for residents and we are working tirelessly with our partners to tackle the problem.

“I would encourage people in the community to continue to report their concerns about possible drug production.

“We will always listen to communities’ concerns and investigate to get these drugs off the streets.”

Anyone with information about drug production can call police on 101 or use the report it option at www.westyorkshire.police.uk/report-it.

Information can also be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or the website.
