A MAN has been arrested for persistent begging near a major Bradford road.
He was arrested for persistent begging at the junction of Smiddles Lane and Manchester Road.
A post on the West Yorkshire Police – Facebook page said: “Begging is an offence and begging at traffic junctions is dangerous because often the person begging is on the wrong side of the pedestrian barrier.
“They become a distraction to passing motorists and can cause traffic disruption.
“Support is offered to persons who enter custody for these offences to try and divert their actions in order to prevent reoffending.”
