SEVEN people were arrested after police executed half a dozen drug warrants and dismantled five cannabis farms at addresses on the Holme Wood Estate in Bradford.

The warrants were carried out at addresses on Wentworth Crescent, Heysham Drive, Landscove Avenue, Lansdale Court, Greenholme Court and Dorchester Crescent. A large amount of cannabis was found at five of the properties.

Three men and four women have been arrested on suspicion of production of Class B drug cannabis, possession of cannabis and abstract electricity, all remain in police custody at this time.

Another woman was given a conditional caution in relation to possession of a Class B drug.

Inspector Andy Thornton Head of Bradford South’s Neighbourhood Policing team said: “We have taken this action today as part of the Holme Wood Community Partnership and highlights our continued commitment to making Holme Wood a safer and better place to live.

“I hope these warrants send a clear message that we are tackling organised crime and people who chose to deal with drugs will be dealt with.

“Today we have dismantled five cannabis farms and seized numerous plants.

“Crime in the area is a big concern for residents and we are working tirelessly with our partners to tackle the problem.

“I would encourage people in the community to continue to report their concerns about possible drug production.

“We will always listen to communities’ concerns and investigate to get these drugs off the streets.

“Anyone with information about drug production can call police on 101 or use the report it option at westyorkshire.police.uk/report-it.”

"Information can always be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

Councillor Matt Edwards (Green Party, Tong) said: "This is the latest in a long list of operations in and around Holme Wood and Bierley the police targeting anti-social behaviour and organised crime.

"As a ward councillor, one of the things that people tell me they want to see is action on anti-social behaviour and crime and I have been working with West Yorkshire Police to push for more officers on the beat across Holme Wood and the rest of Tong ward.

"More and more people are coming forward with information which helps the police get this right.

"I would like to highlight what Inspector Thornton has said about people coming forward with any information. It can of course be done anonymously."
