Police are investigating a terrifying assault which left a Bradford City fan with shocking facial injuries.

Callum Pyrah was leaving Valley Parade following the Bantams' match against Harrogate when he was walking down Midland Road when two cars came speeding down.

Callum said he shouted to the drivers, which is when things turned nasty.

He said: "Next thing I hear someone shout 'they’re coming' - turn around and whack, I’m dazed and get pummelled by three of them plenty of times.

"They pushed my grandad to the floor and kicked him too."

The 26-year-old remained in A&E until 3am but needed to return to the hospital the next day.

Callum received a large orbital fracture which could mean he needs surgery or a plate fitted to fix his eye socket.

In the latest update, he said: “Very bad fracture. 99 per cent sure I need surgery/plate fitted to fix my socket. Not at risk of loss of eyesight though.”

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: “Police are investigating an assault on Midland Road, Bradford at around 2.30pm on Saturday, November 5.

“Enquiries are ongoing.

“Any witnesses to 101, quoting crime reference 13220611626.”

Callum said his grandad is okay and is at home now, but has been left shaken by the ordeal.
