FINE dining day and night is on offer at a new café/restaurant in the Bradford district.

The Pepper Mill has opened on the bustling Bingley Road in Saltaire, which features a host of popular bars and restaurants. The new venture has taken over the site vacated by The Terrace, which closed last month.

The Pepper Mill enjoyed a busy first weekend after its official opening on November 4.

It is the first venture between friends and co-owners, Ralph Poynton, 22, and Jordan Franz, 38. Mr Poynton has a background in mixology with cocktails, which the new site offers, and Mr Franz is the head chef. They have previously worked together at The Lounge in Bingley.

The 50-seat space is spread over two floors and there is an additional outdoor area at the front of the site for eight extra diners.

Mr Poynton says he is pleased to open after giving the location a makeover after taking over from The Terrace.

He said: “It’s a mash-up. It’s a specialty coffee shop in the day and fine dining in the evening.

I love Saltaire. I love everything about it. It’s always busy on Bingley Road and is getting busier by the week

“We want people to sit down have a great meal and enjoy their evening.

“When people come here they can expect the best food in the area. It is all local and all fresh. It is all made in-house.

“We will be changing the cocktail and food menus every three months. It’s super seasonal. We want to keep things fresh.

“Customers who came to The Terrace have given us a try.

“Jordan has always been chef and I was out front.

“We want to offer the best of everything we can; wine, food, spirits and service.”

Mr Poynton added he hopes the café/restaurant will be open seven days a week in the future and eventually offer Sunday lunches.

The Pepper Mill is open Tuesday between 9am and 4pm; Wednesday to Saturday from 9am to 11pm and Sunday between 9am and 3.30pm. The site is closed every Monday. Go to peppermillsaltaire.co.uk for more information.
