THERE is a police presence in a Bradford street this afternoon.

There is a police cordon close to the Park Hotel on Oak Avenue, near Lister Park.

There were unconfirmed reports earlier that there was also a police tent at the scene.

One passer-by claimed that the police scene had been in place since 7am.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"I work at a nearby school, which is two streets away," they said.

"I don't know what's happened, but something certainly has. It's shocking. It's normally very quiet around here.

"It's just not normal to see something like that in this area.

"There was a police tent and police tape. When I left the scene, there was one police officer there standing guard.

"There was also an 'X' marked on the road.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"I'm quite concerned. Parents taking their kids home from school will walk past it. It might upset the kids, when you think about it.

"Hopefully we can find out what's happening because it looked quite serious."

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

Another local described “loads of police” being present at the scene.

They added: “It looks serious. The road has been closed for seven hours.”

A spokesperson from The Park Hotel said that the incident was "nothing to do" with the establishment.

West Yorkshire Police has been contacted for comment.
