A POPULAR takeaway hit by soaring costs is to close its doors at the end of the month.

Baildon-based Street Eat shared the news in a Facebook post, prompting an outpouring of support.

The business is one of the latest to take the decision in the face of ever-increasing costs.

The post said: “It is with a heavy heart that I need to let you know that the Street Eat kitchen will cease trading at the end of November.

“The last few months have seen a c400 per cent rise in the cost of gas/electric leaving us with monthly bills of over £2,000.

“Added to this there’s been a 100 per cent rise in core ingredient costs, a VAT rise and an increase in taxi deliveries.

“Cafe Bar Twelve is going to carry on serving the Detroit Style pizzas midweek, and we have some exciting pop-ups booked in.

“Also, the Street Eat team are still available for onsite and external catering.

“We hope that with your support over the coming months we’ll be able to reopen Street Eat in the spring, ready to serve banging burgers on the tasty terrace.

“We thank you all for your patronage over the last three years.”
