A BRADFORD resident was shocked to see a deer being cut up with a machete by two men in the car park outside his flat.

Bradford Council says they are in the process of a "thorough investigation" after seeing footage of the incident.

The resident said it occurred in Lady Royd Gate, off Bull Royd Lane in Four Lane Ends, at around 5pm on Saturday, October 29.

The Council does not think either of the men involved are its officers as they still try to establish the full facts.

One resident said: "It was so disturbing to see this.

"I have never seen anything like it."

Two men, one wearing a high-vis vest, can be seen standing on a van's trailer with the machete and animal.

One of the men appears to be hacking at the deer's stomach.

A Bradford Council spokesperson said: “We are very concerned about this worrying report and are carrying out a thorough investigation.

“At this stage, we don’t believe this is a council officer and the exact location of the incident is unclear.

“Once we establish the facts, we will take appropriate action.”

A spokesperson from the RSPCA added: "We have not received any reports about this incident but would urge anyone who does have information about the circumstances of the deer’s death to contact the RSPCA’s hotline on 0300 1234 999."
