Aspiring writers are delving into Bradford’s food culture and heritage.

Bradford Food Stories is exploring old recipes, school dinners, family meal memories and some of the city’s first restaurants.

The sessions are hosted online by Bradford-born writers Sharena Lee Satti and Abda Khan.

Work will then be showcased at a special event in City Hall’s banqueting hall on December 3.

Special guests include chef Waqar Mughal, third generation of the family-run Sweet Centre Restaurant, and Irene Lofthouse, poet, actor and director.

Sharena Lee Satti said: “Bradford’s well known for its beautiful food, but there are so many stories that go untold.

“This project is really unearthing them hidden stories, the love of food passed down through cultures and family, through memories and experiences.”

Abda Khan added: “The ambit of the project is wide. It’s not just about food, but also about society, gender, history, sustainability, the environment and much more besides. An event not to be missed!”

Tickets are available via Eventbrite.
