A 92-YEAR-OLD Bradford man was overjoyed to receive a meal from a rugby league legend.
From October 31 to November 4, it is National Meals on Wheels Week - a time to celebrate and spread awareness from an institution the UK’s elderly benefit from.
Yesterday (Wednesday) one lucky Bradford Park Care Meals customer had a special delivery.
Ex-Bradford Northern, Wigan and Leeds loose forward Ellery Hanley was on hand to serve up a two-course hot meal for Wally.
Meals on Wheels services not only provide a nutritional meal, but they also enable people to live independently in their own homes for longer and help reduce social isolation with daily contact.
Rik Shipley, Founder and Owner of Park Care Meals, said: "We are delighted that Ellery has been able to partake in these celebrations.
"At Park Care Meals, we are passionate about providing high quality, nutritionally well-balanced food.
"This along with the daily contact from our delivery team make a real difference to the well-being of our customers.
"We are proud to be able to offer this service across Yorkshire.”
If you or someone you know would benefit from a meal you can contact Park Care Meals on 01274 49 88 77.
