AN international student is opening a new art exhibition in Bradford inspired by the environment and how people interact with it.

The exhibition, titled Transcendence, is an art exhibition of painting and photography being held from November 11 to 13 at Fountains Church in Bradford city centre.

The exhibition will feature the works of KingSamuels Adebayo, a member of the church and a student who has just completed a Master's degree at the University of Bradford.

He said: "Transcendence is an unusual art exhibition of inspired paintings and a photographic social documentary of hidden beauties around us and how we interact with our environment."

KingSamuels' monochrome abstract paintings are inspired by Bible verses and he said they share his predictions for years ahead.

His photography tells stories of how people deal with the environment.

For example, his work might show a drinks can or bottle in a beautiful natural setting.

"We need to be better and treat the environment right," said KingSamuels.

KingSamuels came from Nigeria to do a Master's degree in Human Resource Management at the University of Bradford.

KingSamuels said his journey to open his exhibition began about 20 years ago when he was as a young man in Nigeria.

He explained: "I'm 45 now but when I was 25 I wrote a poem where I predicted I would do an exhibition in the Queen's land.

"I didn't specify Bradford but it's worked out that way. At the time, I never planned on travelling or relocating to England.

KingSamuels is on a two-year work visa and is planning to take advantage of all his opportunities in England.

"I've only lived in England just over a year but I want to follow my lifelong dreams in the arts.

"This exhibition is also an opportunity to celebrate the cultural diversity in the Bradford city of culture.

"Being in Bradford just inspired me," he said also explaining about how he got the name KingSamuels.

"I was born Samuels Adebayo but as I'm a Christian and a King in Christ, I intend to change my name to KingSamuels at some point."

The Transcendence exhibition is scheduled to take place from November 11 to 13 and it will open to the public at 1pm on the Friday at Fountains Church.

KingSamuels said 75 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to charity organisations Sue Ryder and Fountains Church.
