A MAN has avoided a driving ban due to his job as a dentist.

Amjid Siddique, of Pinewood Gardens in Mirfield, was not given a totting disqualification at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court last month.

This was after he was caught speeding on Calderdale Way in Elland in 2021, an offence which carries three penalty points.

The court heard Siddique's mitigating circumstances that a ban would impact on his dental practice business and also the employees, especially the trainees who work there.

It would also mean his children would not be able to go to activities or the mosque.

He would also be unable to drive staff around or attend out-of-hours appointments.

The 43-year-old's research project in Sheffield would also suffer as he could not travel there, the court heard.

Siddique was fined £307 and had to pay costs of £107 and a victim surcharge of £34.
